This is your world now
I merely live in it
Every day
as I attempt to share what I know
with you
You teach me even more
about myself, God, beauty
and the frailty of human emotion
in the midst of wisdom.
Sometimes I pretend we are in a race
so I can keep up with you,
but somehow you continue to pass me by
as I learn to let go
of the constraints
with which time has me bound.
Maybe I’ll catch up with you
when I realize that teacher and student
dwell in both of us,
while intuition sets the curriculum.
