April is National Poetry month. This year, I have posted several raw and un-edited pieces. As this month comes to a close, I post one that is still in draft form that began 9 months ago. It has been re-worked and re-edited several times, and continues to be a work in progress. This is the original draft.
The reflection of the sun on the waves in the evening
reflect the glow on our faces from a day of connection.
Learning each other,
Learning ourselves.
Creating space in our hearts
for the love we need to give
to ourselves and others,
rather than possessing and hiding
the fragments that we’ve collected from others,
that would float away at the next tide
of change, leaving us empty.
The love we create for ourselves in our connection
replenishes itself as we go out and share it,
but the love we attempt to possess
will always leave us wanting more.
