Beltane is the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, when we begin to see the first indications of Spring, with bulbs sprouting and new litters of many species of animals being born. In keeping with the theme of personal growth, the painting Sprout represents the new growth that stems from the seeds of wisdom that are planted in the deep reflection of the winter months, with the roots growing into veins and arteries that feed and circulate love. The painting Deep Roots is a continuation of this theme, with a fully realized person growing from the sprout and embracing their shadow side as a reflection of loving the whole self.
