Some guidelines I set for myself some years ago that resonate even more now. It’s taken quite some time to really implement these in my own consciousness and practice… and like anything worthwhile, it takes practice. There was a long stretch of time that I couldn’t figure out how to make these work in my situation, but I persisted regardless of how often I failed. Hopefully some of these will resonate with you as well. Heck, make up your own!
1. Stop Second-guessing your first instincts…
2. Take a deep breath, release slowly, don’t explode over whatever it was that triggered that instinct…
3. Be well, not right…
4. Ask how this can help others and how it fits into the big picture…
5. Stop blaming self, others or circumstances… own what can be done right here and now…
6. If others need to have their illusion of control, don’t fight it… just do what needs to be done and keep asking for help…
7. Right or wrong, feelings drive the passion that creates change… use them as a compass, not as the vehicle…
8. Stop Second Guessing the first instinct… Speak up for what’s right…
9. Pressure is a copout… always stick to priorities and focus on doing things right the first time…
10. Relax and recognize that you’ve done your best.
